The institute comprises a team of specialized professors dedicated to developing students skills through innovative and stimulating methods. It offers diverse educational programs encompassing modern language learning, literary studies, and cultural research. The Institute of literature and Languages aims to provide an inspiring and supportive educational environment that encourages students to achieve their academic and professional ambitions

Introducing The Institute

The institute of Literature and Languages was established under Executive Decree No. 16-125 dated Rajab 3, 1437 corresponding to April 11, 2016, which includes the creation of a university center in Maghnia (Tlemcen Province). The decree specifies the number and specialties of the institutes comprising the Maghnia University Centre in its first article. The institute comprises two departments: the Department of  Language and Literature, and the Department of English Language.

The Department of  Language and Literature was established by Decision No. 201 dated February 13, 2017, which created the department within the institute of Literature and Languages at the Maghnia University Centre.

The Department of English Language was established by Decision No. 245 dated March 3, 2021, which complements Decision No. 201 dated February 13, 2017, in its second article, creating the departments within the institute of Literature and Languages.

The Institute's Strategy

Our institute for language and literature distinguishes itself by offering specialized education in both the Department of Literature and the Department of English Language. The departments aim to enhance a deep and comprehensive understanding of literature and language, with a focus on critical analysis and literary creativity. The institute provides a supportive educational environment that encourages students to explore and develop their linguistic and literary skills, enabling them to effectively engage in the diverse and evolving job market. The institute’s administration works diligently to promote active learning and scientific research, aiming to achieve an advanced vision in the fields of language and literature

TRAINING AT THE INSTITUTE

A diverse range of specializations is offered at the Institute of Literature and Languages with the aim of providing comprehensive and distinguished education to students in multiple fields. The institute aims to equip students with deep knowledge in modern literature and languages, and to develop their linguistic and analytical skills

COMMON TRUNK

A student joining the Arabic Language and Literature department studies the first year of the common core curriculum. They study a set of foundational disciplines including syntax, morphology, rhetoric, ancient literature, linguistic jurisprudence. Towards the end of the year, they are presented with a department selection form. The administration holds an academic session to introduce the departments and specializations available within the department. Students can consult professors, department heads, and accompanying professors. (The accompanying professor is a professor who guides and supports first-year students within the mentoring system.)

Licence

Currently, the institute ensures a structured training program following the LMD system (License-Master-Doctorate). Studies progress over three years culminating in obtaining a Licence degree.

In our institute’s second year, three specialized departments are introduced, including linguistic studies, literary studies, and critical studies. In the third year, students can choose their specialization within each department. In the linguistic studies department, students can specialize in applied linguistics. In the literary studies department, they can specialize in modern and contemporary Arabic literature. As for the critical studies department, students can specialize in modern and contemporary Arabic criticism.

Master

 
After obtaining their Licence’s degree, students enroll in the Master’s program within the same department they studied during their undergraduate studies. In these departments, the following studies are offered:

Linguistic Studies: Applied Linguistics

Literary Studies: Modern and Contemporary Arabic Literature

Critical Studies: Modern and Contemporary Arabic Criticism

These study programs aim to deepen knowledge and develop the necessary skills for students in their chosen fields, enabling them to successfully continue their educational and professional paths in the future.
