Maghnia University Centre Hosts a Study Day on 'The Role of Entrepreneurship in Developing Border Areas'
In coordination with the National Agency for Support and Development of Entrepreneurship (NESDA) in Tlemcen, the University Centre of Maghnia organized a study day on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, titled: 'The Role of Entrepreneurship in Developing Border Areas.' The event was held under the patronage of the Wali of Tlemcen Province, who attended alongside a significant official delegation representing various authorities and sectors.
The program commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem. Dr. Riadh Kadri, Director of the University Centre of Maghnia, delivered the opening speech, welcoming the attendees and emphasizing the significance of this meeting in fostering an entrepreneurial culture and supporting the spirit of initiative among youth to enhance local development in border areas.
This was followed by a speech from the Wali of the Province, who emphasized the paramount importance of entrepreneurship in wealth creation and job generation. He highlighted its vital role in driving the wheel of development in border areas and enhancing social and economic stability.
The representative of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises also delivered a speech, alongside the Director of the National Agency for Support and Development of Entrepreneurship (NESDA) in Tlemcen. Both speakers stressed the importance of the partnership between the university and the economic sector in mentoring project holders and meeting the aspirations of young entrepreneurs.
The event also featured valuable scientific presentations on entrepreneurship, delivered by Dr. Bouterfas Mohammed El Amine, Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (CDE), and Dr. Derfouf Mohammed El Amine, Director of the Business Incubator. These sessions were followed by workshops connecting students and aspiring project holders with representatives from support and mentoring agencies. Additionally, an exhibition was held featuring successful micro-enterprises from border areas, alongside innovative and entrepreneurial project prototypes showcased by students from the University Centre of Maghnia.
The event also featured the inauguration of the new conference hall at the University Centre of Maghnia, which was named after the late Professor Mourad Naoum. This tribute honours his distinguished career and his immense contributions to the university community.
