National Seminar entitled: Civil Engineering and Sustainable Development: Innovations, Challenges, and Prospects

Today, Wednesday, the University Center of Maghnia—specifically the Institute of Science and Technology—hosted the activities of the first day of the First National Seminar on Civil Engineering and Sustainable Development, held under the slogan: "Innovations, Challenges, and Prospects

This two-day seminar aims to create a platform for exchanging expertise among researchers, engineers, and economic actors regarding the latest eco-friendly technologies in the construction and public works sector.

In his opening speech, Professor Kadri Riadh, Director of the University Center of Maghnia, welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of integrating sustainability into civil engineering projects in Algeria

The chairman of the seminar, Dr. Guiz Amine, also noted that this scientific event aspires to provide innovative solutions to address current and future environmental challenges.

The first day featured a plenary session (Session Plénière) chaired by Professor Meghnounif Abdellatif and Professor Mansouri Mouloud, which included high-level scientific presentations:

First Presentation: Delivered by Professor Noureddine Bourahla (National Polytechnic School – Algiers), who addressed a vital topic on "Smart Structural Health Monitoring of Existing Facilities Based on Vibration Analysis," highlighting the role of technology in predicting failures and ensuring building safety.

Second Presentation: Delivered by Professor Boumechra Nadir (University of Tlemcen), focusing on "Rehabilitating Old Structures Using Steel Reinforcements," where he detailed the technical advantages and disadvantages of this type of urban intervention.

Alongside the lectures, the afternoon session was dedicated to:

A poster session featuring specialized agencies and institutions, providing students and researchers with the opportunity for direct engagement with field and technical realities.

Oral Sessions: Three parallel workshops were organized to discuss specialized research in the fields of geotechnics, sustainable building materials, and infrastructure management.
