Digitalization has brought significant transformations to education in general, and higher education in particular, affecting communication, information management, and teaching methods. However, it is essential to question whether students, faculty, and higher education and research institutions are effectively able to adapt to these changes

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research aims for Algeria’s higher education and research institutions to achieve the desired levels of modernity and performance. This vision is particularly embodied through the creation of an innovative and dynamic system based on digital technologies. The primary goal is to make higher education and scientific research a key driver of development and progress

To plan the digital future of higher education and research institutions, the “Digitalization Roadmap” was established based on the sector’s strategic vision. It allows for setting deadlines and identifying projects to be implemented over a period determined according to the capacity and capabilities of each institution

The Digitalization Roadmap focuses on:

-A strategic vision from which a set of strategic axes is derived
-Each strategic axis is divided into a set of programs

-Each program is further divided into a set of projects, which include the activities to be carried out. The digital roadmap will be fully implemented by the affiliated bodies, which were established for this purpose
On November 6, 2022, and in accordance with the Digital Roadmap, the University Center of Maghnia established the “Digital Strategy Office"

The role of the office is to implement laws and regulations related to scientific research and technological development, aiming to prepare the centre for a successful digital transition in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It also seeks to activate and locally supervise projects related to information and communication technologies within the university.
