About the English Department

The Institute of Letters and Foreign Languages was established by Decree No. 16/125 of 04/11/2016, which mandates the creation of a University Center in Maghnia. The Institute is managed by a Director, assisted by two deputies.
The Institute currently comprises only one department: the Department of English. The Department of English aims to develop students' English language skills, enhance their understanding of English literature and culture, and qualify them for various careers that require professional interaction with the language.

English Department Training & Programs

The Department of English offers a Bachelor's degree (Licence) in English, currently enrolling 340 students.

The English Department also includes two specializations: Linguistics (LS) /
Literature and Civilization (LC), with 20 students in each.

Students can choose only one specialization from the Master's programs offered in the field of English.

Bachelor

The English Bachelor's degree (Licence) aims to provide fundamental training in the literature and civilizations of the English-speaking world. In addition, its primary goal is to develop linguistic skills that enable the student to express themselves clearly in English, both in writing and speaking

Master

This Master’s degree aims to introduce English language students to scientific research in the field of British and American civilizations and literature. It also aims to train English language teachers for the secondary education level and even for the university level, whether in English, History, or Literature departments.

Master

The main objective of this academic program is to enable the holder to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired during their training. The option proposed by the English Department includes the launching of this Master's in Language Sciences, which leads to a PhD.
