About the Institute
The Institute of Letters and Languages was established under Executive Decree No. 16-125, dated: 3 Rajab 1437 AH, corresponding to April 11, 2016 Regarding the establishment of the University Center of Maghnia (Province of Tlemcen), which specifies in its first article the number of institutes comprising the University Center of Maghnia and their respective specializations. The Institute consists of two departments: Department of Arabic Language and Literature andDepartment of English Language.

Institute Strategy
Our Institute of Literature and Languages is distinguished by offering specialized education in the Department of Arabic Literature and the Department of English. Both departments aim to foster a deep and comprehensive understanding of literature and language, focusing on critical analysis and literary creativity. The institute provides a supportive learning environment that encourages students to explore and develop their linguistic and literary skills, enabling them to engage effectively in a diverse and evolving labor market. The institute's administration works tirelessly to promote active learning and scientific research to achieve an advanced vision in the fields of language and literature.

Training at the Institute
Core Curriculum
A student who joins the Department of Arabic Language and Literature studies a Common Core curriculum in their first year. They study a group of foundational modules, including: Syntax (Nahw), Morphology (Sarf), Rhetoric (Balagha), Ancient Literature, and Philology. At the end of the year, they are provided with a field selection form. The administration holds a scientific session to introduce the fields and specializations available within the department. Students can consult professors, heads of departments and specializations, and the Academic Tutor (the Academic Tutor is a professor who supervises and facilitates challenges for first-year students within the tutoring system).
Bachelor
The institute currently provides training under the LMD system. Undergraduate studies last for three years, culminating in a Bachelor's degree (Licence).
In the second year at our institute, three specialized tracks are offered: Linguistic Studies, Literary Studies, and Critical Studies. In the third year, students can choose their desired specialization within each track. In the Linguistic Studies track, students can specialize in Applied Linguistics. In the Literary Studies track, they can specialize in Modern and Contemporary Arabic Literature. As for the Critical Studies track, students can specialize in Modern and Contemporary Arabic Criticism
Master
After obtaining the Bachelor's degree (Licence), students enroll in the Master's program and proceed into the same track they studied during their undergraduate years. In these tracks, the following studies are offered:
Linguistic Studies: Applied Linguistics
Literary Studies: Modern and Contemporary Arabic Literature
Critical Studies: Modern and Contemporary Arabic Criticism
These academic programs aim to deepen knowledge and develop the necessary skills for students in their chosen fields, enabling them to successfully pursue their educational and professional paths in the future.
